Council for Mosques current leadership

Afzal H. Khalifa
By the Grace of Allah Alone, I am pleased to serve as the President of the Council for Mosques (CFM) Bradford. My focus will be on strengthening unity, supporting our member Masjids and Madrassas. I aim to ensure that our organisation continues to be a trusted voice for the Bradford and District Muslim community. I have been involved in voluntary Masjid work for many years. I am committed to promoting cooperation, safeguarding our institutions, and helping CFM Bradford grow in a way that reflects the needs and values of the Muslim community we serve. I have a background in social work and immigration law.
Hamzah Khan was elected as Vice President of the Council for Mosques in January 2026.
Hamzah Khan is a dedicated leader in education and community development, with over 12 years of experience at Dixons Academies Trust. Beginning his career as a trainee teacher, he progressed through a range of leadership roles to become Vice Principal, where he oversaw behaviour and culture, driving high standards, strong pastoral systems, and a values-led ethos. He now serves as School Trust Leader for Civic Responsibility, leading strategic work to embed character education, civic engagement, and social impact across the trust.
Alongside his role in education, Hamzah is the Director of Bradford Muslim College, where he is committed to developing faith-informed leadership and empowering individuals through knowledge, service, and ethical grounding.
Hamzah has also served for over 20 years as a Trustee of Al-Mustafa Community Trust, an established Islamic community centre in Bradford. The organisation plays a vital role in supporting local communities, working in partnership with the police, the NHS, and other agencies to tackle social, health, and educational inequalities in some of the most deprived areas. It also runs an award-winning supplementary school, with over 500 children attending daily classes.
Across all his roles, Hamzah is driven by a belief in the power of education, faith, and community leadership to transform lives and build stronger, more cohesive societies.
